- The episode title refers to a 1937 Nazi propaganda film Opfer der Vergangenheit: Die Sünde wider Blut und Rasse (Victims of the Past: The Sin against Blood and Race) which was shown in motion picture theaters during World War II. The film was produced to build support for a program of eugenics designed to eliminate people with mental illnesses and intellectual disabilities in Germany, as part of the plan to build the German "master race."
