Anne, Princess Royal (born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise) is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and the only sister of Prince Charles. In The Crown series, she is portrayed by Erin Doherty in seasons 3 and 4 and by Claudia Harrison in season 5 and 6
Born August 15, 1950, as Anne is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II (then: Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh) and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (then: Philip, Duke of Edinburgh). When she was born, she was third in line for the throne, behind her brother Charles (second in line) and the current reigning Queen, her mother.
After her mother ascended to the throne in 1952, she became second in line until 1960 when her younger brother was born. This is due to an outdated law that states male heirs are placed in front of female heirs in the line of succession. By the end of Season 4, Princess Anne was 8th in line of succession to the throne. As of 2024, she is 17th in the line of succession.
