King George VI (born Albert Frederick Arthur George) is played by actor Jared Harris. He was King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 11 December 1936 to 6 February 1952.
Life
Prince Albert, known as "Bertie", was born on 14 December 1895, the second son of George V and Queen Mary. He married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on 26 April 1923 to which he had two daughters with Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose. George became King on 11 December 1936 following the abdication his brother, King Edward VII to marry Wallis Simpson.
King George VI died on 6 February 1952 at Sandringham House peacefully on his sleep because of lung cancer.
