Maurice Harold Macmillan, 1st Earl of Stockton OM PC FRS, was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1957 until 1963, when he resigned on health grounds. Before becoming Prime Minister, he was both as Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Chancellor of the Exchequer under his predecessor, Anthony Eden. In The Crown, he is portrayed by Anton Lesser.

- Macmillan was related to his contemporary US counterpart, John F. Kennedy, via marriage. His wife, Dorothy, was an aunt of William Cavendish, the Marquess of Hartington. Hartington was a son of Dorothy's brother, the Duke of Devonshire. Cavendish married Kathleen Agnes "Kick" Kennedy, a sister of JFK, in 1944. Cavendish was killed in action a few weeks later and Kathleen Kennedy was killed in a plane crash in 1948.
