Camilla Rosemary Parker Bowles (née Shand), is the second wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. In The Crown series, she is portrayed by Emerald Fennell in seasons 3 and 4 and by Olivia Williams in seasons 5 and 6.
Biography[]
Camilla was raised in East Sussex and South Kensington in England and educated in England, Switzerland, and France. In 1973, she married British Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles, with whom she has two children, Tom and Laura. They divorced in 1995.
Camilla and Charles dated before and during each of their first marriages. In 2005, Camilla married Charles in the Windsor Guildhall. From their marriage, she became known as the Duchess of Cornwall.
On September 8, 2022, she became the Queen Consort of King Charles III, upon the death of her mother-in-law. She was crowned on May 6, 2023, making her the first Queen Consort to crowned in the 21st century and the first since the Queen Mother in 1937.
Trivia[]
- Despite being married to Charles since 2005, Camilla never held the title "Princess of Wales" due to its strong association with Diana, Princess of Wales and, instead she held the title "Duchess of Cornwall" until 2022.
- Her great-great grandmother, Alice Keppel was a mistress to King Edward VII (Charles' great-great grandfather).
