Antony Armstrong-Jones , Earl of Snowdon, GCVO (born Antony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones), is a recurring character in Seasons 2 and 3 of the Netflix series, The Crown.

He is played by Matthew Goode in Season 2 and by Ben Daniels in Season 3.

Season 2[]

Anthony first appears at the wedding of a mutual friend of his and Princess Margaret’s, during which he ignores her for most of the event.

Afterward one of Margaret's assistants is having a small party in her house which the princess attends. There, she meets the charming Armstrong and forms a flirty relationship with him. He agrees to take Margaret's official photograph. During the photo shoot, he tries to seduce her, but Margaret is not interested.

Margaret asks for him to send the photograph to the Times of London newspaper, which once published leads to a scandal.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being divorced from Margaret, Armstrong-Jones continued to work as a photographer for the British Royal Family until his death in 2017.
